AUTUMNA Poem by DrDThese are the syrupy months of autumn Flowing over days and weeks In gaudy colors and crispy footsteps The goodbye months to summer’s playground And solemn entrance to the embrace of winter.
For winter comes with a funeral touch Where skeletons of trees make shadows Over fields buried beneath a candida sheet When birds have deserted the land And creatures seek a meager promise.
But this is autumn in its final throes And squirrels scamper in their last pilfering A time of pumpkins and nuts Before winter breaks down the door And even the scarecrow dies. © 2013 DrDReviews
