MONARCH MEMORIES

MONARCH MEMORIES

A Poem by DrD

Monarch memories

You opened your arms with the first
Wave of the Monarchs
“They’re coming!” you cried and laughed aloud
For the heavens were filled with
Wing colors and the harmony of soft gliding
By the tens of thousands they came
Drifting upon feathered winds
On their route to Michoacan

“It’s marvelous!” you proclaimed
Eyes upward with the smile of awe
“How do they know?” you asked
“How do they know where to go?”
And I remember I had no answer
But now that you are gone I know
The messages of our hearts
Are without compass but remember all beginnings

I can see that butterflies are a special symbol in your life...as they are in mine and in other people on WC as well. The memory shared here is touching. Heartfelt words. Lydi**
