What it was

What it was

A Poem by DrD

It wasn’t supposed to be that way

By the standards set by others

It simply wasn’t normal

But we embraced the dawn

With an excitement of knowing

We had another day together

I loved your exuberance about little things

“Hurry, listen!

Somewhere there’s kittens

Bring the milk!”

It wasn’t that we were in love

We were love

And it never had a better definition

Than you reaching for my hand

But night always comes

Bringing darkness and chill

And it came upon us

As if we were unwary prey

The sad reality of this poem is like snow cloaking the earth, covering the beauty that rose with spring. As with all things, however, love returns to its source and can blossom anew, a creation of its own rebirth. If not, it stays warm in the remembrance of what used to be, folded in upon itself to keep out the cold.

Lovely!

Thank you, Linda. I truly appreciate your visit.
Sometimes we can make our way in the dark
Other times we can't quite make it till sunrise

I like the way you leave it to the reader, to find his or her own ending..

Thought provoking .. sad and tender.. Jazz

I do like this a lot! Absolutely beautiful...

"It wasn’t that we were in love
We were love"...................................says it all!

Sublime :)
