ANOTHER DAYA Poem by DrDI think of you once a day . . . All day. With Kodak precision You return to me to force a smile. The funny way you jumped When excited, clapping your hands With the shrill, laugh-broken cry. I feel your arms slide around my neck Your cheek on mine, tear-wet. Your whispers darting into memory To be replayed when night is heavy.
I dream of you; I can’t escape The cloud of your hair On the pillow beside me. You pull my arm around you And snuggle to fit against me. “Sleep late,” you whisper “The sun is always so cruel.” But brightness slides between the slits Of the venetian blinds And the clock hand becomes king And I am the servant of another day. © 2014 DrDReviews
