Moonless

Moonless

A Poem by R.A. Youngblood

Laying sleepy in the colored grass,
Between the polished and the faded brass.
Watching the promise of a steely moon,
Listening to the beauty of a fragile tune.

Looking back at the shallow eyes,
Piercing through their bitter disguise.
Raising my voice just to say "go away"
They would follow me even if I went astray.

Amber eyes took the humanoid form,
Like bits of stillness in the agonizing storm.
Don't show me the face of the moonless sea
Unveil me and like a slave set me free.
