Yes I'm A Girl

It's a poem I wrote on the behalf of every single girl in this world who are being shut down!

Yes I'm A Girl

I believe in the sunrise, in the sky

it tells me, let not your hope die

For it is hope that keeps us alive

Yet I'm another girl, to prosper and thrive

I have a right, to have my rights

For my dreams I can fight

I can shoot for the stars

No matter how deep are my scars

Who said if I'm a girl,

I don't belong out in the world

Who said, my duty is merely to cook, clean and breed

Don't underestimate, to the whole world I can lead

Dear parents, you always want a son

Give me a chance I can be the one

I won't leave you stranded when you get old,

I carry a heart which isn't cold

Dear society, don't cut my wings so I can't fly

I'm a girl with dreams, my dreams never die

Every time I speak up for my rights,

you shut me down, it's cowardly's height

 

Stop calling me someone else's property,

I belong to no one else but me

I'm capable of living life by my own

Need no one else to be strong

I'm not burden but blessing,

to the whole world I'm addressing

Yes, I am proud to be a girl,

without me there is not world

What a wonderful poem! It's great to use your voice for a worthy cause and gender equality is definitely one. We still don't have true gender equality, despite what some people say. There's still the glass ceiling women collide with and the prejudice we face every day.
