Cream-Plied.

I recently read that the Lock-down is affecting and ending some romantic relationships - -too close for comfort maybe - - so decided to post this gentle suggestion to think before angry exchanges.

 

 

Cream-Plied

Poorly resourced, ill-used time kills warmth when
rude under-dressed exchanges begin
being passed as norm.

Non-value remarks always fail to impress yet stick
long in the mind as guns of unkindness
kill habitual best.

Sash down and closed against harshness unfeeling
words thrown about hurtfully can rattle
and needlessly burn.

Sticking to tongue long after they fly angry words 
come back as unloving chains to shackle
digestible language.

Corners need cleaning when insults adhere beyond 
normal reason to rub former scar-battles
in mud thoughtlessly flung.

If tried, sharing affection inside a relationship sews
repair to the worn distress of paucity's
shawl of unmeant care.

Spread with love the saying is true that newly white
mornings feel right when plain breakfast  
is cream-plied by two.

this is just me mind you but it is to me most important in a relationship to have separation I don't mean physically necessarily but a part of your life within the relationship that is yours; your time your thing your moment if you will, that gives a sense of self within the relationship. I think that has been getting stripped away in the confines of quarantine. Having no escape from the relationship and that "me" moment seems to exacerbate the frivolous that normally would drop to the wayside:( I think even the most enduring and giving hearts can fall victim to this restrictive environment:) This was an interesting reflection you made in this poem one that I haven't really thought about till now:) I hope all is going well with you dear Fay

Thank you Robert for your thoughts on keeping relationships sweet by allowing spaces between of me-time - so wise and I agree wholeheartedly - a sense of self needs to be found and maintained for true togetherness to thrive......... the time for exchanges if kept respectful will bolster and protect these vital aspects and in these testing times we do well to reflect - - gratitude for your well-wishes too - I am keeping safe and staying on top......... keep well yourself dear friend - am sending sweet scent of Cornish violets to help - -their tiny faces carpet edges of every lane here in the month of May.
