Chapter One

Chapter One

A Chapter by FeilcBlanc

It's almost lunch.
I start thinking about the sandwich in my lunchbox. The savory meat, the yummy sharp cheddar, the crunchy pickles.
"Alessia."
As I imagine the honey flavored BBQ sauce and the soft, fluffy bread, I start to drool.
"ALESSIA."
"What, huh?" I say, confused.
I look around. It's not quite lunch yet. I'm still in math class.
"Alessia, would you rejoin us on earth and tell the class the square root of 47 simplified?" Ms. Barnett, my math teacher, demands.
My classmates snicker.
"6.97?" I answer, hopeful.
Ms. Barnett inhales sharply.
"No Ms. Wright, the answer is 6.856. What will I do with you?"
Most of my classmates start full-on laughing
"Quiet class!"
It quiets a little, but much of the class is still laughing.
Ms. Barnett sighs and starts explaining how you get to the answer. Soon, the bell rings, and everyone starts excitedly heading for lunch. As I'm about to walk out the classroom door, someone grabs my shoulder with intense strength and jerks me back. I turn around, ready to defend myself from a bully, but instead of Greg, Ms. Barnett is staring at me with a fake smile and a white envelope in hand.
"Ms. Wright, please take this home to your parents and bring it back, signed."
Ms. Barnett hands me the envelope and sends me off to lunch. I head to my locker and put away my math supplies. I get done with putting my stuff away a little early, so I open the envolope and in it, I find a piece of paper. At first, it seemed blank, but then on it red words appeared.
"Consequences shall come."
Then, as fast as the words appeared, they were gone, replaced with a note on my daydreaming.
What just happened?
I didn't have time to think about it before the lunch bell rang. I quickly put the note back in the envelope and shoved it into my locker. Then, I grabbed my lunch and basically sprinted to lunch. I get to the cafeteria and I see my best friend Tami waiting for me. I sit down her, and take out my sandwich.
"What took you so long?" Tami asks, clearly irritated.
"Sorry, I got distracted by a -- actually, don't worry about it."
Tami's eyes narrow, but she doesn't press farther. I look at my sandwich, wait a couple moments before eating it so it will taste better, and take a big bite. As I chew, I smile a little. I look up at Tami and she's smiling too.
"How is it?" She asks.
"Amazing." I say "You want a piece?"
"Sure."
I break off a piece of the sandwich and hand it to Tami. She looks at it for a moment, and then eats it.
"Soo.. how did it taste?" I ask eagerly.
"Good." Tami said.
"Okay.." I say, a hint of disappointment in my voice.
I finish my sandwich, and look up again.
"Alessia, it WAS good, just not really in my flavor pallet."
"Okay."
I close my eyes for a moment, a little tired from lack of sleep.
"A@Les$ia!"
My eyes fly open and I see Tami glitching like a video game character.
"H3lP!"
I just stand there and stare. What am I supposed to do? Then, after a moment, she's gone.

I was not expecting the end there. I like the mystery elements with the letter. It does make one wonder what will happen. I love it and I can’t wait to read more
