I'm tired of writing about this s**t...I need a new protagonist...I need to explore the heart and soul of humanity...I need to have sex with a cute Asian girl...I need to love her without needing commitment... (I laughed as soon as I wrote that, and justifiably so) Remember this line from my high school graduation. Lisa Labow, class valedictorian? "I apologize genuinely for not being more eloquent tonight, but as I see it, this fully human existential predicament that we currently find ourselves in has been partly created by the intrinsic need and value of a good a*s-whoopin' by the powers that be...or not to be, that is the inquiry...Nobody knew what the hell she was talking about (she'd had her wisdom taken out earlier that day and was flying high on painkillers). We were busy playing cards, smoking bidis, shifting our gaze to a future of whatever... It's not that we were apathetic or cynical, or even disinterested or uninterested...we were just underachieving sons-of-b*****s...we didn't possess a lot of insight...we believed in a life more extraordinary...we were more metaphysical than our elders gave us credit for... we embodied something, though we could never put it into an essay, for example. Or a letter-to-the-editor. But we had beliefs, which was unusual for a generation bereft of a mission statement...We believed in the power of neurosis and weren't ashamed of flaunting our talent for posing the philosophical issues of life and death, and having no answers. Answers were superfluous to us in those days. We preferred impromptu performances, blue skies and sunshine, and the symbols outlined in Carl Jung's The Red Book. (con't at some point in the not so distant dull future)
