Hammers and nails

Hammers and nails

A Poem by Darkness_in_the_day
"

This poem expresses the danger of letting ones emotions show.

"
My emotions protrude like a nail
And you are the hammer, prepared to strike
forcing me to retreat to the dark
offering me no insight

Anger attacks the  calm demeanor
battering my already painful wounds
invisible to the naked eye
the aggravating ignorance, all consumed

Agree to disagree
but it is your way and no other
I guard my rusty heart and mind
the nail has been smothered.

The first two lines really drew me in. I love how you based the poem on the striking of a hammer. Very interesting and intriguing!
