Grasping the Lasting Day's Love

Grasping the Lasting Day's Love

A Poem by Sunshadow Coyote

When I have fears that I may cease to feed.
Before my pen has felt my thoughtful brain,
Before high-piled books, I plan to read,
Held like rich man's money clip, impossible to drain.
When I behold, upon the night's scared face,
Unique misty symbols of a true romance,
And think that I may never live to truly embrace
Her feelings, with the flow of a dance.
And when I feel, the fair creature of an hour,
That I shall never look upon you more,
Never have taken in the fiery power
Of relenting love; then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think
Can I grasp this love before we both sink?
