What Do the Faries do While I'm AwakeA Poem by NealImaginary science fiction
A soft purple light
Surrounds me at night Brings a calmness I need The music I hear From the lute that is near Brings close to some what I fear Slumber is hard from the loneliness I live But some is bearable from the love That they give But I want to peak a liberty I take What do these faries do While I'm wide awake Are they playing in the meadow where the grass is emerald green Or listening to the stories of the honey comb where the honey bee is queen Or are they simply in the lake wading to the knees Lying on their purple backs Beneath the apple trees Perhaps their doing none of this instead their fast asleep within the roses With soft snores of happiness escaping from their noses © 2025 Neal |
