To Defy the Laws of Tradition

A work in progress, recently started. I would appreciate honest reviews very much.
I'm particularly interested in knowing what people think of my writing style. It's quite different from the usual, in that it focuses largely on the characters and the story, rather than describing what everything looks like.
Also, the narrator's name is Alex, but I'm sure I'll constantly mess up and call him "Chris", so hopefully that won't be too confusing.
