Different perspectives holidays have on people

Some people holidays fill them with happiness

Some people holidays emphasize their loneliness

Some people feel holidays are exciting

Some people feel holidays are isolating

Some people share holidays with loved ones

Some people share holidays with no one

Some people are so busy with their own recreation

They fail to see others choking with desolation

the christmas just passed was the first one since my mother died; and the fallout of her death was that my siblings are at each others throats. so new year's eve i ended up in a bar, sat by the counter by myself nursing a whiskey and cola. and that i think is the establishment of a new tradition.
actually, i was alone for many new years' and that is how the cookie crumbled for me. i guess festivity was something i wasnt meant to have.
so... i enoyed this work. it resonated, i vibed, it was cool.

I'm sorry about your mother passing...I understand your heartache. I spent the holidays alone as well...except for my chihuahua. I didn't put up a Christmas tree or any decorations; I didn't cook a turkey; and the only presents I bought was a new squeaky toy for Gizzy (my chihuahua) and a set of flannel sheets for my bed. I had a few invitations from friends but I really didn't feel like putting on a fake happy, festive face. I actually enjoyed the "me time" for the most part..some thoughts about my past holidays crept up occasionally.

Thank you for reading and commenting. I wish I could say this was just creative writing and not based on my own experience.But I am sure I am not the only person who has felt like this. When one is estranged from family/loved ones or just by oneself, the holidays can be emotionally exhausting.
