Ache

My birthmother is in hospital I am devastated and cant find the words to say this is my first attempt

Ache

 

 

there is an ache

that we all take

to place its trace

a life-long chase

its filled with grace

and un-said acts

and marks our pace

as time retracts

this ache of crave

that life exacts

and when you find

its warm embrace

I pray that mine

helps fill that space

I always struggle to say the things i wish to say before i lose someone tucked in her book of my poetry was the piece of paper with this poem printed on it it sat next to her bed along with my first (attempt) at a novel:) I am grateful i got to form the words before she passed and she read and heard them while she was still conscious. my ache has deepened a little while hers has lightened but this is one case where we didnt really need to say anything because we had a strange connection that went beyond words
