If Only, If Only

Something i wrote a little while ago, on a whim, at 3 in the morning.

I saw a flicker in the night
Far too quick for eyes to see
And still it seemed to catch my sight
Imagination strong in me

Fairies sway in moonlit glen
Twirling down a starry path
Wyld fey, beyond my ken
Untouched by anger, pain, or wrath

I looked but once back where I came
Past footprints dark and full of tears
Where nothing changed but stayed the same
Bathed in nightmares, evils, fears

But ahead a future shined
Endless midnight revelries
And so the past I left behind
Engulfed in Times relentless seas

Twas but a dream that I once had
Years ago in childhood
Would that now I could be glad
That life could be as then it stood
