Bread and Bruises

Bread and Bruises

A Poem by Dominik Drite
"

A recollection of detached memories

"

Water blankets seize the lost mind,
Impaling - breathing.
Weight pulls the spirit into depths,
Engulfing - hurting.
Doves swim over Heaven’s still clouds,
Softening - drowning.
Men bruise the vein that is singing,
Destroying - screaming.
Mothers bake their bread without love,
Listening - needing.
Fathers cry in their wounded hands,
Cowering - fearing.
They trample time under their hooves,
Enduring - killing.
No bread for the hungry children,

Disguising - loving.
