Bless the folks in Hungry Hollar
Stinkin' po nary' a dollar
Sometime's, thar's moonshine to swaller

 
Kentucky hills whar they'd livin'
Ain't much to share, still they's givin'
Tho~mostly sad, they be grinnin'
Jes hicks from stick's, without bother

 

Often times considered lazy
Labeled as Ig'nernt' and hazy
Some folks even call them crazy
Common blue jobs, no white collar

 

 Jes' Rural folks with country wit
Some Urban folks don't rightly git
To which neither kind will admit
No one the wiser nor smarter.



 

Author's Note

The first stanza, known as the mudanza, has three lines, rhyming aaa.
All the other stanzas - as many of them as you like - have 4
lines, rhyming bbba, the a rhyme harking back to the first stanza.
The overall rhyming scheme for the poem is aaa/bbba/ccca/ddda
