Scream

Scream

A Poem by Freespirit111063
"

Part of my journey through life....

"

Scream to the world, look, look at me

Hoping that everyone sees the facade

Outwardly solid, the strength of an oak tree

But inside the turmoil twists like a roulade

The smile, the laughter, the sensibility of it all

Nobody bothers to take a hard look behind

It serves it's purpose well, this thick wall

That keeps them out, fear of what they might find

An anguish inside, a soul twisted and torn

By those that should have loved it most

An innocence lost, a child abused and worn

No young memories with champagne to toast

Who to trust, who to love, is the love really true

Experience shows an ebb in the tide

Relationships, marriage, turn from gold to blue

The guilt churns and devours deep inside

A desire to love and be loved, a need to feel trust

Wanting respect, to return it in kind

But a niggling doubt, past thoughts always burst

Intrusively to play with the mind

A heart that beats with compassion and love

But sadly split unable to now fully give

And wonders which gods in their wisdom above

Decided this is the way that I must live
