A Poem by Gabby The Gab

The pages turn, the stories fade
Some voices quiet, some just stayed away
The ones who used to write 'til two
Have moved along, as people do

We had our share of coffee spills
Of sudden drafts and plotless thrills
The chats that wandered far from theme
The poems lost inside a meme

Some friends have gone, their pens now still
Some got busy jobs to pay the bills
They’ve left their mark, a clever phrase
Etched gently in our writing days

But now the café is lit anew
Fresh voices, thoughts, and points of view
Such is life with twists and bends
We lose some friends, we meet new friends

Life keeps turning, high or low, soft or wide
But we learn to let some things subside
Chapters end, and doors unfold
Though not every story must be told

So here’s to change, both slow and swift
To seasons turning, to every shift
For life, like ink, the ink still flows
And where it leads, well, no one knows

It works, and I’m impressed with your use of prosody, though there are a few dropped trochaic lines amid the iambic

And... never bend the line to the needs of the rhyme:
--------
Some friends have gone, their pens now still
Some got busy jobs to pay the bills
--------

Busy jobs? Are there any other kind? People with jobs can’t write?

• Life keeps turning, high or low, soft or wide

All other stanzas have 4 feet, this has 6.

But in general, you’re doing well.

I loved this. Such is life. People walk in and out of our lives, some for awhile, others, forever. Some have mere bit parts in our lives while others have major roles. And you have taken that concept and applied it to the love of writing. But writers write. It's what they do and nothing can make them otherwise. I know that great poets are born and not manufactured by experience or instruction. Poetry is a way of viewing life that only a poet can envision from a singular perspective. And sharing that vision is what every poet aspires to achieve. You have done well in sharing your vision here. I very much enjoyed the read. F.
