Let the Sunshine in.

Let the Sunshine in.

A Poem by SELF

O Man, do you see those shores upon which

Infinite sand grains reside?

O Woman, do you see those stars that light up

the sky amidst the shadows of the Earth?

Though some have eyes, they cannot see

So tell them to let the sunshine in.

O Man, do you hear the birds at the crack

Of dawn when the skies are painted red

with the rising sun?

O Woman, do you hear the Earth’s pulse

as you place the soles of your feet on the

Naked ground?

Though some have ears, they cannot hear

So tell them to let the sunshine in.

O man, do you feel the cries of the young ones

that were buried beneath the rubble by those with

Deep pockets and short hands?

O Woman, do you feel the absence of that newborn

Whose tiny hands could hold the world?

Though some have hearts, they cannot feel

So tell them to let the sunshine in.
