A return to peace

A return to peace

A Poem by SELF

I was once a man with an attitude

but when I met the Merciful on a higher altitude

the attitude turned to gratitude.

Lost in lust and always coming last

I built my cage and got lost

Oh how tragic drowning in that which we cannot get past.

And as bodies lay beneath the earth’s crust

We all turned our heads to the remnants of the past

Hoping to find that which would make us run fast

from obscene and defamatory slander.

We saw the oppressed become the oppressors

And the free becoming the enslaved.

We found pain

We found blood, sweat and tears.

We found gnashing of teeth and wicked chastisements.

But Above all, we found the Merciful

The oft-returning to Mercy

The conquering lion of Judah

Reigning supreme on Mt Zion.

Selah!
