Scarecrow

Scarecrow

A Poem by Gaia Octavia

Passion turns while
numbness reigns
living life once-removed
until nothing remains

Thoughts corrode as
bitterness does
leaving dried-out husk
of who I once was

I used to live
so passionately
but now I'm secure in
my celibacy

They say time heals,
and one day I may
but to tell you the truth,
I prefer life this way

Well-said, dear poet.
For those who can appreciate it there is introspective joy in being an "island".
