It's mid-autumn in my neck o' the woods, winter... she'll be here soon enough. I just think of how peaceful it is when it's snowing... that eerie quiet that takes hold.

Nicely written. And I, for one, am more than ready for Spring. I've been in hibernation long enough. I'm like the old bear wanting to get out and see the other side of the mountain. Bless, F.
' Winter came not meek nor mild .. but with hoare frosted, bellowed breath .. that coated all with thin laid ice .. sending autumn to her death.'
Such a chilly start but amazing meter, Gee. Plus the same in the second and third stanzas, Your phrasing and the canvases you've created are quite something, sir. THEN ... there's the final stanza, beautiful yet = touching on tragic, an emptiness highlighted til that final phrase., '... til once more the songbirds sing"' choked me up for a few seconds, Reminded me of the empty skies and lack of sounds.. seem to have been going on for so long, too long. Imagine we're all needing earlier days, shorter nights and floods of light.

Takes a while to settle anywhere - known or otherwise - especially when trchnology is playing games! The 'feel' of your writing is always sincere and that's worth a dozen more academic pieces. Best wishes to you and your lovely ladies
This is such a beautifully bittersweet song for spring... for the songs of the birds to rise again as the blossoms do... Winter seems hardest on my soul... perhaps it is because the birds are so often silent... and maybe that's why I keep the birdfeeders full. :)
I liked the feeling I got from reading this. it shows me why many run away from the cold but at the same time, how inspiring the cold can be. Nicely penned. tyfs
