Interloper?

Interloper?

A Poem by Gill Fitzpatrick
"

Not sure this belongs in the breakfast anthology

"

Let’s consider Mush….rooms

Rooms for mush?

Do they belong on a breakfast plate?

Jury’s out…. Don’t rush

Salted, peppered, buttered

They add an earthy edge

But do I want to eat a thing

That festered in a hedge?

So when it comes to mushrooms

I really am not sure

If it has its place amongst my beans

Or just the forest floor

Love mushrooms, but ones bought in the shops. Would not be out picking them myself for fear of poisoning my family :) Much comes out of the ground. Do you feel that way about root veg?

Mushrooms are interesting things. Not exactly a plant, not exactly an animal. None the less delicious. How do you feel about the weeds?
