One More Day

what else can I say but just one more sunrise, one more day

 

One More Day

I know I said I closed the door

but being a fool even when I say

I don't want to cry no more

what I would give for just one more day

but that would only make it worse

cause after that day has gone away

guess the next line of the verse

yes I would ask again for one more day

round and round it would never end

have to go when I really want to stay

it's real bad when you fall for a friend

how can you not want just one more day

things sure turned out to be a mess

it's hard to walk when you have feet of clay

but you know I must confess

all I can think about is one more day

if I were snowbound I would have an excuse

then you could not just turn me away

the only plan that you could deduce

would be for me to be here one more day

if I just sit and watch and make no sound

if I bow my head and begin to pray

you could pretend I was from the lost and found

then I could stay one more day

This poem is one of the sweetest thing I've read in a long time. Falling for a friend... gosh, this is so well painting the feeling.
I think that you repeated "one more day" in every stanza really add to the impression that you just don't want to let go, which is touching, because you ask for little, but in the end, we can feel you want just much more.

Gosh Gomer, I can feel your heart, your cries. Your poems make me smile, laugh and then there are those that just make me cry like a baby, cause they touch home so much.
You write with your heart and to me that is a great and talented poet.
