Real beauty goes deeper than the skin

Look Closely

her face is not perfect yes she has flaws

if you mistreat her she will show you her claws

but if you look closely you will see a work of art

most of her beauty is deep inside her heart

she has little corners that show imperfection

but if you give a serious gaze in her direction

you will see God's work at its very best

not just her face alone but all of the rest

I dream about her every day and night

that gorgeous woman and her wordly plight

I make things tougher for her I make a big mess

I show my jealous teeth and my human weakness

I tell her every chance I get how much I care

but I sometimes show different show her dispair

I hope she will look closely and see my heart too

and know that I truly love her I really do
