But Seriously

guess when you come right down to it

I'm not really all that funny anymore

the laughter has escaped me somehow

no stories of fantasy meetings with one-eyed creatures

running through cornfields with laser beams

or daring river raft escapades in Tennessee running

and hiding from old green teeth wanting to make me

his pet piggy so I can squeal for him

or crashing parties of Hollywood starlets

falling into swimming pools after snorting a line of coke

no just hum-drum, achy-breaky, syrupy words of whine

and I'm not talking about Pinot Noir here either

the tender of my private garden hidden away

far back from the road so no one can see

pays rare visits to tend to the watering and cultivating

seems other more sophisticated humourous knights

have captured the imaginaton of this once dedicated

awe inspiring jean wearing middle American

the love of labor no longer seems to be there

hiding in the dark more and more often now

but who can I blame but me myself and I

no I'm not really funny anymore unless you count

when I look into the mirror now thats histarical

too bad Im not really laughing

but seriously...

Dont think your alone in this feeling Gomer. Or Coyote,
These days it is hard to find laughter and sometimes when we do it seems as though its not like it used to be, so free, contagious, seems sometimes it is fake.
They do say laughter is the best medicine. Doctor, doctor I need some of that medicine. lol
But seriously, I agree we all need to laugh more. And David get a new mirror that one is lying to you. lol

I feel the same as in this poem. I lost my real emotion of looking at life with better vision. Hard to find laughter. I still try to keep a good face and go forward. Too many people still need me around. I like the story in your poem. A very strong poem. I believe better to laugh then cry. A very good ending to a excellent poem.
