No More Goodbyes

No More Goodbyes

A Poem by Gomer LePoet

No More Goodbyes

hearts on fire hearts tied in knots

pulling the petals off of forget-me-nots

trying to pretend that everything is fine

hate being sent back to the end of the line

gritting our teeth and forcing a smile

trying to be cool acting with style

but the truth is this let me make it clear

this isn't working so sorry my dear

the smiles that used to brighten my day

have left me now they have gone away

there is no use pretending not anymore

Mr Lonely has come he's there at my door

I'm staying busy try keeping my head high

but who's fooling who is it my turn to cry

down too low should not come as a surprise

no more hellos and no more goodbyes

A truly emotive piece, such sadness and resignation. I can empathize, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Nice to meet you and your poem!

I can understand this completely Gomer. I hate that feeling when everything inside you is tied in a knot. One of those real tight knots that you can get out, get untied. I can also relate to the pretending, putting on a smile for everyone around you just preteding you and everything is wonderful, just peachy. When actually its not. Then I digg down deep and the smile that went away, I find it in the memories. I think back and think of all the times I was made to smile or laugh or felt the love from someone special. Yes a tear or two may fall but at least I smile for a few too. Busy is good, it helps somewhat. Mr. Lonely visits us all. Your not alone.
This was such a sad and lonely write. But a very good one and so emotional
