Due to Circumstances

a buddy and I were watching an HBO fight on tv

when suddenly the screen went completely blank

the middleweight championship we had wanted to see

we thought our pick was sure money in the bank

it was the 7^th round and our guy had a big lead

the other guy was looking beat his eyes swollen and red

when the screen went dark and finally this message

we are sorry but due to circumstances is what it said

I was driving down the road heading off for work

traffic was really bad and I of course was running late

I had already been cut off once by this damn jerk

the thought came to flip him off and I didn't hesitate

I didn't understand why the traffic was such a mess

this was the customary way I came every single day

when I got to the detour I was pissed I must confess

sorry due to circumstances you need to find another way

me and my girl had been dating for a little over a year

not everything was perfect but we were in love

things started happening and I was getting this fear

would we still be together when push comes to shove

seems that another man had come into her life

I noticed her and another guy exchanging glances

out of desperation I asked her to be my wife

she said I'm so sorry but due to circumstances

Oh dear, that's life and, doesn't it hurt! Although this seems to be a light-hearted piece of writing, there's serious stuff here, things do go wrong, circumstances often have the way of raising their ugly mugs at the most in-oppertune times.

Due to circumstances, like that title and so fitting
Love the rhyming and the flow
We all have circumstances that play a big role in our lives, and some we have no control over. So are quite possible for the good and some not so good.
But we learn to cope and deal as best we can I guess.
