Stealing WatermelonsA Poem by Gomer LePoetduhStealing Watermelons
me and Elvin were looking for something fun to do we've been planing something since our trip to the zoo we knew farmer Brown had this very large melon patch thinking we might sneak over there and get us a batch
I knew we should have waited until it was a very dark night instead we picked a time when the moon was very bright we knew that this would make this a very chancy risk so we started walkin really quick our pace was very brisk
we knew the reputation that Brownie kept a weary eye he didn't cotton to strangers not even just walkin by we heard he kept a shotgun right close to the door and if his houndog perked her ears there'd be hell for sure
we were keeping really low crawling on the ground being very careful not to make a single sound we were very close a hundred feet from the house be still I said to Elvin be as quiet as a mouse
we both had one now under each of our arm trying to back up quietly away from the harm moving ever quicker now as fast as we can we didn't notice that dang blasted fryin pan
when we ran into it it made such a clatter heard the door open and my teeth began to chatter I saw a flash and heard a bang as I tried to duck the pain in my behind let me know I was out of luck
it was only pine salt but it stung like you know what I was running faster now with this pain in my butt I dropped the watermelons now crying like a girl knew Elvin was in trouble when I heard get'em Pearl
that was the name of old farmer Brown's dog I knew I was in for it when I tripped on a log then I heard Brownie whistle and call Pearl back laughing he said that'll teach 'em and went back to his shack
