They call her Dupree

They call her Dupree

A Poem by Gomer LePoet
"

a poem for a friend of mine

"

They call her Dupree

she may seem sad to you she may sometimes seem contrite

but don't try to put her down or you're in for a helluva fight

she may be small in stature and her heart may cause her pain

she has been dealt a trying hand and left standing in the rain

but she is no quitter and her love for life is so very bright

her eyes of blue may change sometimes depending on the light

her once hair of gold has been changed to hide her lovely smile

but I bet if you really needed her she would gladly walk a mile

she has a love for writing and tries so hard to express herself

a tune always in her head from the music kept on her shelf

she laments about a tortured love kept buried in her soul

waiting every patiently for her John Donne bell to toll

I could go on and tell you more but this is not about me

this is about this lovely lady that they call Dupree
