Would you rather I pretend

my words sometimes are harsh

I will tell you what I feel

I could hide them if you like

but that would not be real

my heart lays wide open

I think I leave no doubt

I could keep my mouth shut

go in the other room and pout

I just don't know another way

then to tell you what's inside

I'm not very good at pretending

would you prefer I hide

the scent you send to me

makes my heart breathe in love

but then you bathe and wash it clean

lead me to the edge then turn and give a shove

I will once again feel the pain

will these heartaches ever end

I could say hey I'm just fine

would you rather I pretend
