You're The Reason

every day begins and ends with you

You're The Reason

I wake up in the morning

push the ON button on my laptop

make a pot of strong French Roast coffee

and head back to my den where stories emerge

If my silly little 3 legged poodle stirs

I take her outside so she can do her thing

bring her back in and give her some biscuits

then back to my room and ponder events of the day

check out the emails at my mail locations

a quick game of hearts to get my blood cooking

if anyone has played you know how they cheat

check my mail again to see if you have sent me anything

check out my FB account to see if you are there

check the cafe to see if you are maybe there

are you beginning to get a pattern here now

yeah you're the reason I go thru this routine

a message, a poem, a scolding I don't care

just want to hear your words to feel you

if I have nothing to read or no urge to write

I go look at your pictures to make me smile

god I love looking at your pictures that you sent

I wrote about the 16 reasons but there are many more

each picture has a story a time frame wrapped around it

and I love remembering when you sent it the moment it arrived

you're the reason I awake with hope in my heart

you're the reason I laugh when you send me a joke

you're the reason that I cry when you are sad

you have been my reason for life since we met

you're the reason I think of a tune sometimes

I pick up my guitar and dream of singing to you

it always comes out sounding dumb but you don't care

you're the reason a tear now forms in my eyes

I never knew I could fall so much in love

I never knew I could care so deeply about someone

I never knew so much life could be in a smile

but your smile is my heaven and you're the reason

Oh David, David, David. Whatever shall we do with you? This is so amazing, so sweet, and yes so sappy, (No Im kidding about the sappy part) Just wanted to make you laugh. I absoutely ADORE this.
