I try to write new thoughts or rhymes but nothing seems to come to mind the stain of her lipstick on the half-filled glass her setting on the table unused the dinner I had planned sits now burnt into the casserole dish gravy stains running down the stove the neon light flickering shadows on the wall silhouettes of the two of us dancing no longer to appear now emptiness has filled the room and the needle on the phonograph has stuck repeating the same words
