I'll leave a light on

I know you have had your courage challenged
shaken thoughts of pain

mixed in with droplets of despair

life can be so beautiful and yet so suffocating

wipe away the tear stain

your heart desperately in need of repair

tend to your wounds let the healing begin

we somehow find the way

to tolerate though not entirely forgotten

if you need a shoulder to help you through

I am more than just feet of clay

just remember that I'll leave a light on

I really like the sentimental feeling behind this poem. It illustrates those instances in life where things are far from perfect, yet we have a hope, a light left on, to serve as inspiration for a better tomorrow. You captured that very well. Nice writing!
