The sun scatters leaves on the wall,
And sticky, empty glasses gleam in it’s afternoon light.
You’ve just stepped out for fresh air, right?
In any moment you’ll walk back in, and you’ll say:
“The sky is so clear today, but it’s warmer in here,”
You’ll pull me in with an arm around my shoulders,
And nestle your lips on my forehead, in my hair…
I wish it were true.
Your scent lingered here for a while,
It comforted me as you journeyed home,
Then it too continued on it’s way… back to you, I suppose.
Distance is easily covered in these times;
You’ll be able to arrive in England in 24 hours,
For the same distance it took the first fleet 8 months.
And yet time is as slow as always,
It seems like a long time,
Until you’ll be able to hold me in our sleep.
But I know, that once that day comes?
It will feel like you had never left.
