The wind

The wind

A Poem by Green
"

"
You cannot hold the wind.
But sometimes
when it blows very hard
On those days
associated with words like
Severe, Advisory, and Warning
when the air is
almost solid
I cup my hands against it
and for just a second,
I do.

Sitting here at altitude 130m Facing west onto the Atlantic ocean 5km from the west coast
We know that you cannot catch the wind >
depending upon what you have just eaten you may have the wind in your tummy > but thats another problem >
We have *atmospheric wind every day . Oh that nice cool welcome breeze on a (rare) hot summers day

We measure the wing by the plant movement > Tall flowers wave at the cool breeze ...
The trees wave their arms in strong winds > somtimes you think the tree trunks will break

All you can do is to keep out of the severe gales OR whear suitable clothing

A concise and powerful poem about a fleeting moment of triumph. I love the image of trying to "cup the wind" and that final "I do" lands beautifully.

can you really "hold the wind" as you say?
Not so sure my WC Friend, but a thoughtful write nonetheless..]

The power of nature might be invisible, but you describe very well the power of it that we can actually grasp.
Only once has wind ever grabbed me. I think it was 2008 and we had winds captured at 112 mph and were stuck in work watching windows across the road blow in and they had the genius idea that due to health and safety issues we could all go home!!! (Like that was safer)
So off we go. I got a lift from a friend and as she turned the first corner the wind caught us and she managed round the corner on two wheels. I went back the next day to search for my stomach, which I think escaped through my mouthwhen I "Woah'd" a bit too vigorously! 😃

That's beautiful. The image of holding onto wind, even if only briefly, is really powerful. Nicely written.
