Today was a first: Today was a lastA Poem by GrumpieI hemmed my first pair of pants today, in fact, make that three. I finished the job, top to bottom, no one around to harass me. The seamstress has her own vibe, bringing the towns folk alive, They stop in, see me, and awkward fills the harmonious jive. A newcomer, a stranger, a young woman in the shop! They assume the older woman has the skill to stop All wayward thought. She’s wise, she’s grey, she’s stark. I’m young, I’m sweet, I’m naive, nowhere near making a mark. And yet a dream begins to fill my head, two is better than one, When striving for greatness, the pair might just get things done. © 2025 GrumpieReviews
