I have a Story to Tell: A Campfire SongA Poem by GrumpieThe warm hug of autumnAt long last, I sit back, breathe, and relax, Content watching the seasons as they pass. The town I live welcomes me into fall, The yellow hues of cornshucks growing tall, The strong man I’ve fallen for loves me back, My heart never wonders, scared to attack, As I am quite at ease in this fresh hay stack. The horses watch with curiosity As I leap up over the fallen tree. They feel my heart beat in time with Love’s chance, Galloping in grasses tall to the glance. I am one with the wind’s flickering stance. I comb my long hair, down past the navel Golden too, the autumn leaves are able To mesmerize the town’s beautiful view, A home deeply orange, no tinge of blue. The perfect weather to say “I love you.” © 2025 GrumpieAuthor's Note
