Eyes That Blind To Lies

A person

who is truly good

shall not suspect my lies.

He'll see me

as an angel

through his blinded eyes.

 

Easy though, I'd say

to lead the butterfly astray.

Flies towards my gossamer

With minimum suspicion.

 

Built he who this complex web

none of them shall live to see.

A person who is truly good

will never know it's me.

I love this stanza...it says it all!
In many ways, it defines our present-day society.
It's why politicians and terrorists succeed. The good people of this world just can't fathom what the not so good are capable of...but look at the webs those dark ones weave...and still, they do not suspect. I love this piece. Nice job.

Deceit can be the worst of weapons to someone trusting. However, once decieved the butterfly will learn to check her wings before fluttering away....

Well it did win the second world war. without 'Operation Fortitude' there may have been no D-Day. Hitler may have perfected the atom bomb. Things could have been so much different.
Yes deception has a role to play in life.
This reminded me of the poem "The Spider and the Fly by Mary Howitt", Guy.
