I see this world

The leaders don't care

And why would they?

They have power, we do not

Everything is at their fingertips

What do we have?

The Economy suffers

And people care

That 1% doesn't

They don't need to worry

Why do we worry?

I can see myself jaded

Wars are happening

The other day Nepal's government was overthrown

I did nothing

Why didn't I do anything?

A genocide happens

People die

Another video online raising money

Begging to get out of a situation they didn't create

Why do I scroll past?

People are taken

Taken by ICE, by a Gestapo like being

Still I don't speak out

Even though I know the poem

Why didn't I say anything?

It's not just "there"

It's not just "not my problem"

It's not just a conversation over dinner anymore

It's real

Why is this real?

 No longer do I create

Instead I sit

Sit and worry about a world that's now "my problem"

A world past down from the last generation to fix

Why?

A world war sits on the brink

And I can't do anything

I'm 16 and can't drive

Part of a generation that knows

Part of a generation that cares

Part of a generation that will move mountains to get someone home safe

So I will pick up my voice and brandish it like a sword

The baton MUST be passed on to your generation - ours and all the prior ones' have had our own chances at addressing these same issues - it must become your generation's turn as you grow and endeavor to face and deal as we ALL have had to do. Begin now by ensuring ALL your facts are real and not another's opinion. Nicely written.
