A Sunflower's Repose

A Sunflower's Repose

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

For Laii-Ana Junai Monroe Gibson, my "little one."

"
When a flower blooms
and it's just too soon...
does the wind weep to the moon?
Would a Sunray sit and pray
that one day,
this broken heart
will be ok?

There’s a time and season for everything….good or bad.
The good events are embraced, but the bad are like a cacophony of eternal turbulence.
Sometimes the hurt is a gentle prick…on other days the pain stings badly.
It is what it is…
The hurt never fades.
This is deep.

Thank you.
This feels like a tender elegy wrapped in a question to the universe. The sunflower, a symbol of light and warmth- becomes a quiet emblem of love and grief, reaching toward a sun it can no longer touch.

The poem’s simplicity deepens its ache; it’s less about answers and more about the stillness that follows loss, where even the wind and sun seem to mourn.

I lost my brother in May and I'm still grieving. To lose a child at any age is just too soon. But as difficult as it is to understand God's purpose, you must lean on his strength to get you through the days to come. It's all we can do in "letting go". What better place for her to rest, than the arms of He who created her? That is where your peace lies. Bless you, Travis!
