Sad Snail

Sad Snail

A Poem by Holly Mason

crawling along
thinking of my day
I wonder why
the world is at play
for I have been forgotten
left in the dust
but with the will of mine
I will one day again trust
I know I move slower
and cannot keep the pace
but I am not to be left
for as I crawl I leave a trace
I wonder far and wide
all about the rosie world
hunkering and hampering
in a blissful heaven sent whirl
slower I maybe
so small that I do seem
but I to dream of life
and all the finer things
yes a sad snail
with antennas for eyes
I am to a part, integral
that makes this world so wise

snails....sluggish, slimy, clumsy and easy prey for birds. makes one wonder why you would personify such a creature....although your analogy makes perfect sense to me, this is a profoundly interesting and engaging write. the more i look at it, the more i see the point. well done!

You have penned a wonderful message Holly that snails have an 'integral' right to be here on this earth too :O)

I believe this too.......you penned this so well Holly......
creative minds think to find writing inspiration in the smallest and slowest of things such as a snail, expressing the challenges or rather sorrows a snail endures daily, but yet the snail never gives up it just moves along not in a rush on to it's destination. Talent indeed you have it

a beautifully constructed poem expressing the pain of a snail which moves slow but steadily.....my heed was much attracted towards your greatly rhymed lines........

It's not the size or the speed of a person, err snail that matters, rather the heart, which they share that truly matters.
