Basket full of Unicorns

Basket full of Unicorns

A Poem by Holly Mason

My eyes slowly open
I head out to see
what is in the basket
from the Easter bunny
All I asked for
with one big wish
was a basket of unicorns
with tails that swish
I hope and hope
for all the last weeks
no chocolate bunnies
does my belly  seek
I want magical moments
in a land of rainbows
a basket full of unicorns
in a field of glow
I am at the table
my eyes peer over
and what do I see
another chocolate bunny
staring right back at me
but my mom does try
so I will not cry
I dig past the Easter grass
around a jelly bean or two
to find a basket full of unicorns
in an Easter story book-WOOWHO!
I gather the goodies
back to my bed, I go
to have a bit of chocolate
and read of Unicorn filled Rainbows
