Wishing for Love

An old love poem I found in my notebook.

Wishing for love

Is like wishing for world peace

I can't see why I can't have it

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Am I not pretty enough?

Because I know I am strong enough

But maybe I've been strong for too long

Too long have I watched couples being happy

Too many birthdays I have spent alone

Too many abusive relationships I've been through

Each time I try

Something goes wrong

Each time I fail

Makes me think I'll always be the underdog 

There are fish in the sea

I feel like a fish in the sand

Suffocating, breathless, and writhing in pain

Whenever I get back in the water

All I find are sharks

Or fish too old for me

Or fish already taken

I feel like a rainbow trout among a sea of bass

I don't fit in

I don't belong

I don't feel safe

Too long have I been a loner

Too long.

Sometimes I do feel like that fish you wrote about, so yeah I love this poem. Its really straightforward and points out the perfect emotions. And I hope you get out of this phase and write happy songs :)

This writing has a lot of good qualities. I really like the word picture you paint with it. You say that you found this in a notebook, so I am presuming it is one that was written by you sometime in your past. I hope you still do not feel so lonely as you state in this writing. I am not going to go toward the temptation to make comments beyond a review of the writing per se, but hope you are in a better place now. Nice writing, albeit the subject matter is of sadness.

I think you NEED to read your thoughts aloud...three times through. Slowly, and with emotional intent ...and listen. I did.
