Wishing for LoveA Poem by HaleythePoetAn old love poem I found in my notebook.
Wishing for love
Is like wishing for world peace I can't see why I can't have it Is there something I am doing wrong? Am I not pretty enough? Because I know I am strong enough But maybe I've been strong for too long Too long have I watched couples being happy Too many birthdays I have spent alone Too many abusive relationships I've been through Each time I try Something goes wrong Each time I fail Makes me think I'll always be the underdog There are fish in the sea I feel like a fish in the sand Suffocating, breathless, and writhing in pain Whenever I get back in the water All I find are sharks Or fish too old for me Or fish already taken I feel like a rainbow trout among a sea of bass I don't fit in I don't belong I don't feel safe Too long have I been a loner Too long.
