Weird Situations

Josie was left off telling Miranda that she is going to attend her party. She finds out her brother knows something about this party..and who is calling her during this stormy night? New characters: Mrs. Bell-Josie's mom, Mr. Bell- Josie's dad, Ronni-Jos

Chapter two

In this chapter, Josie is inside her house, eating at the dinner table.  It is raining outside.

Josie(to her mother): Will you pass the bread, please?

Mrs. Bell: Here, Josie. How was your day?

Josie: Uhm, it was alright..i guess. Mrs. Tower, my math teacher, said I have the highest grade in the class.

Mr. Bell(smiles big): Oh, Josie. That's great news!

Josie:(grins) Thanks daddy.

Kelli(rolls her eyes)

Mrs. Bell(catches Kelli's expression) Kelli.. And how was your day?

Kelli: Oh just great mom, thanks for asking.

Mr. Bell(nods his head at Kelli) And yours, Ronni?

Ronni( not paying attention to previous conversation, looks up) Huh? Oh good, dad. (stuffs food in his mouth)

Josie:(rolls her eyes at Ronni):So dad.. I was thinking..Can I stay at Miranda's Friday?

Mrs. Bell(interupts): No hunny.

Josie:(face turns red with anger): Why not!

Mr. Bell(swallows his food): Now Jo, no need to get angry with your mother.

Josie: But why can't I go?

Mrs. Bell: Because your father and I decided yesterday that we are all going to visit your grandmother this weekend.

Josie:(looks at Mr. Bell and pouts): Daddy?

Mr. Bell:(feels guilty): Well..maybe we can hold off for another week?

Mrs. Bell:(with anger) I think not, Mr. Jared Bell. I already told my mother we are coming up to see her first thing after school hours on Friday. She was so excited.

Mr.Bell: Well.. I think she would understand. (to Josie) But, why do you want to stay over Miranda's so bad?

Josie:(thinks to herself) Well..because..Miranda wanted me to..uhm..hang out with me this weekend because she might be going away for awhile..

Kelli:(to Josie) Going away? Where?

Josie: Uhm.. I'm not sure..she hasn't told me yet. I didn't really get to talk to her today.

Mrs. Bell: Alright, Josie. I'll talk to grandma. She is going to be upset.

Josie: Tell her I'm very sorry. We can go see her next weekend. (to both parents) Thank you.(smiles)

Ronni:(stops eating and looks at Josie) I heard someone talking about Miranda today..and.. they said something about Friday..

Josie:(interupts) Uhm. That's cool?(changes the subject) Wow, it's pouring out.

Mr. Bell(looks outside): Yes, I think we are supposed to be getting a bad storm pretty soon.

Ronni: Oh great. I can never sleep during those.

Kelli:(stands up to clean the table)

Josie(to everyone): Well, I have lots of homework to do. Dinner was great. (Whispers to Ronni) Hey, come to my room in a couple minutes, I need to talk to you.

Josie is in her room. Ronni knocks on door.

Josie: Come in.

Ronni:(opens the door): Hey, you wanted me?

Josie: Yeah, sit down.

Ronni(sits next to her)

Josie: Okay, at the dinner table..you said something about Miranda?

Ronni:(remembers) Oh, yeah! I remember. You cut me off.

Josie: Okay..and what did you hear?

Ronni:(thinks) Ummmm...(pauses for awhile)

Josie(becomes impatient): Ronnie!

Ronni:(reacts to her yell): Sorry! I had to think...oh yeah. I was in my science class and I heard ..what is his name..Stephen?

Josie: Yeah, Stephen..what about him?

Ronni: I heard him say something about Miranda's party on Friday. (remembers the conversation at the table) Hey! Wait a minute. You are going to that party Friday, aren't you?

Josie(sighs): Yes, well..at least I think so. Just, please don't say anything.

Ronni: Jo, I might be younger than you, but I wouldn't rat you out.

Josie:(smiles) Oh thank you Ronni! (hugs him)
