SavannahA Poem by Cassick DameIt was in an old cave That a man had a plan And a day to save It was there in Winnipeg Cave That he saw his fame A chance to be a man beyond words He packed his bag Took everything He was going to Savannah A place far away Beyond any sea and land A place to stay The Bitterroot Mountains were stone Ice gripping at the edges No path was made But beyond the crest There came a nestled town At the center stood a mess Of statues and legs Blood poured around Dripping down along the mound He was going to Savannah A place far away Beyond any sea and land A place to stay He was greeted with hugs They let him stay in the inn They promised he’d not get mugged An’ for a month he stay till the end He turned his sights To the isles, alone and separate From any human mights On a boat he made his way Resting on the sand He heard a voice he could not withstand It rang and echoed in him Towards he turned Never looked back again He was going to Savannah A place far away Beyond any sea or land A place to stay © 2017 Cassick Dame |
