To My Ex-Best Friend

To My Ex-Best Friend

A Poem by Michelle

To my ex-best friend,
I still miss you.
I think about you all the time.
I wonder how you are, if you're better without me.
Do you think about me as often as I do you?
I remember the good times.
I remember sitting on your bed to watch movies
and going on walks at 2 am crying.
I remember spending weekends together,
and long car rides to nowhere.
I remember weekends out,
and time spent lying in bed together.
I remember tight hugs, and felling safe,
and sharing a hundred laughs.
I remember long runs, and cold baths,
and I remember pushing each other to be the best.

But I also remember the bad times,
pulling the razors from your hand,
holding your hair back as you puked,
putting you to bed as you declared you loved me.
I remember those bad nights, where I held you close
as you screamed and fought against me,
desperate to make your escape,
like a wild animal who had been caged too long.
I remember your cruel words, and your calleus attitude
as you blatantly ignored me, because you always wanted to come first.
I remember telling you I was in love with you,
and you refusing to acknowledge me.
I do remember the good times, but it is the bad times I can never forget.
