The Keys

The Keys

A Poem by Haunzwürthe
"

Another perception bending/personification piece rooted in simple imagery.

"

A set of keys hang by the door.
They rattle as the door shuts
And voices begin a tenuous
Conversation of daily events.

They listen to the voices.
They can hear the nervous
Timbre that surrounds the
Half truths and white lies.

They note the changing mood.
As the tempers boil under
False expressions, the air
Takes on a more solemn tone.

They see the emotions ignite.
The screaming and yelling
Echo through the house
In utter disbelief and betrayal.

They feel the sadness.
Screaming turns to wailing
With each passing moment
Until a glass shatters upon the floor.

They watch the footsteps.
A lonely silence follows the
Slamming door and rattles the
Two sets of keys that hang by the door.

This is devastating but beautiful at the same time. It touches the heart in special way. I love this write, because it goes through stages, just like any relationship or illness or disease. You have done a great job. Keep it up!
